Print making
Print making in India has long history. After the British intervention in India 19th century onwards, created ranking within art mediums, grading graphic- print making at low grade. The practice of printmaking as art medium gained immense popularity in early 20th century with the establishment of Kala Bhavan in Shantiniketan and at the Government School of Arts at Calcutta that encouraged printmaking with facilities, as important part of art education. Later, art schools at Baroda and Del-hi’s contribution to print- making has been remarkable. NGMA, Mumbai’s has conspicuous collec-tion of prints.
