Balkrishna Vaidya one of well known billboard painters of 20th century in India. He began painting posters of most iconic figures of Bollywood industry at the age of 12.
Balkrishna Vaidya a well known bill board painter of twentieth century India. The hand- painted bill boards flourished to heighten film industries in mainly Mumbai and Chennai. A rapid growth in portraying iconic actors of Bollywood films in 70s and 80s was to leave an ingrained impression to the onlooker. The NGMA, Mumbai has a collection of eleven artworks by Balkrishna Vaidya that formed colossus of hand- painted billboards to Indian cinema. A dramatic, intensely captured Nargis in this painting overshadows digital printed photograph.
