Infinitely India An exhibition
of photographs from the collection of the Albert
Kahn Museum, France.
NGMA New Delhi 29th November to 27th December 2009
|
The exhibition INFINITELY
INDIA, extracted from the collection of the Albert
Kahn Museum, throws ourselves in India during the
1910’s and 1920’s. Fascinated by this country,
Albert Kahn had organised several missions to India.
These photographic treasures, in colour, resulting
from those expeditions as well as film catching the
daily life of the country, make up an extraordinary
testimony of India during the past century.
Illustrated with more than 50 autochromes and old
films taken from the archives of the planet, the
Albert Kahn Museum’s exhibition shows the beauty and
the complexity of India. Because this exhibition
gives a testimony of India at the beginning of the
20th century, it fits in with Heritage and
Universality thematic of the festival BOJOUR INDIA.
INFINITELY INDIA is based on two photographic and
cinematographic missions launched by Albert Kahn.
The route followed by his two photographers, with a
fifteen-year interval, Stephane Passet in 1913-1914,
then Roger Dumas in 1927-1928, concerns the same
region, the North- West of the country; however,
their orientations were different. |
