International Collection of the NGMA
New Delhi
|
The National Gallery of
Modern Art presents its first comprehensive
exhibition of its international collection. Over the
years, the NGMA has built a small but unique
collection of works from countries such as Japan,
Germany, Switzerland, United States of America,
Italy, France, Great Britain etc. Of these works,
some are the award winners of the Indian
International “Trinnale” hosted by India, others are
gifts from various sources.
Some of the important names exhibited are Kozo Mio
(Japan) Van De Kop, (Netherlands) Robert Rauchenberg
(USA), Giorgio de Chirico (Italy), Henry Moore
(U.K.), Sonia Delauney (France), Fred Thieler
(Germany), Tapier (Spain) and Max Bill,
(Switzerland) amongst others.
This exquisite but eclectic collection has rarely
been exhibited in the past, but showcases some of
the international trends, concerns and mediums of
yesteryears. Notable are the wide cross section of
works of graphic art that has contributed to the
propagation and development of interdisciplinary
modes of expression of the last century. |
